Fort Lauderdale, Florida
We spent years on the other sideof that counter.
Passfold is a retail brand operated from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We make and sell 38 small leather articles for the documents you hand over when you travel. Nothing else.
Where this came from
The company that owns Passfold — named in full in the panel beside this and in every policy page — has been an airport services business in South Florida since the late 1990s: taking bags at a counter, storing them, moving them between terminals and hotels. Thousands of people a week, all of them arriving at a desk holding more than two hands can manage.
What we watched, over years, was never a problem with the luggage. The luggage went on a belt and behaved. The problem was always the handful — passport, boarding pass, the card they paid with, the arrival form they had not filled in yet, the phone they needed a free hand for. People put things down on the counter and picked up the wrong ones. They found the boarding pass in the fourth pocket they tried.
A service business cannot sell that fix. Airport services are licensed locally and cannot cross borders — we could not have helped a traveller in Lisbon or Osaka if we wanted to. An object can go anywhere. So we made the object.
What we decided not to make
Nothing larger than A5. No luggage, no cabin bags, no backpacks, no wallets. The boundary is not modesty — it is that the moment we care about lasts about eight seconds at a desk, and the things involved in it are all smaller than a sheet of paper. A company that also sells suitcases stops paying attention to the eight seconds.
On the name
Passfold is a new brand, created for this catalogue. It shares no name, mark or visual element with the airport services business that owns it, and it does not trade on that business’s registered trademarks. If you have dealt with the parent company at an airport, nothing you saw there will appear here — that was deliberate.
How we sell
One price, once
You buy an article and you own it. There is no membership, no subscription, no points scheme, no stored balance and nothing that renews.
One currency
Everything is priced in United States Dollars (USD), wherever you are. No hidden switch, no regional markup, no price that changes based on where you appear to be.
The specification before the photograph
Grade, tannage, finish, dimensions, thickness and weight are on every article page. If we would not put a number on it, we do not claim it.
No fear in the copy
One article contains a shielding layer, and its page states the frequency it was measured at and the conditions. We do not suggest that the other thirty-seven leave you exposed to anything.
Start with the Finder
Three questions about what you actually carry, and an answer that names what it will not hold as clearly as what it will.
