Why it is like this
Dropping the card slots is what buys the thickness. Everything a card slot adds — a second leather layer, a stitched edge, a bit of stiffness — is the difference between an inner coat pocket that lies flat and one that does not.
Because it is unlined you can see the reverse of the hide inside. It is sanded and sealed, not covered.
Natural marks are not faults
Grain varies across a hide. Growth wrinkles, healed insect marks, range scars and shade differences between panels are characteristics of the material and are not grounds on their own for a defect claim. Every article is still covered by the ordinary 30-day return if you simply do not want it.
