Why it is like this
Arrival and customs cards still have to be written by hand, usually standing up, usually after the one pen in the cabin has gone missing. The loop is on the outside spine so the pen comes out without opening the cover.
The pen is not included — loops sized to one specific pen tend to be sized wrong within a year.
Natural marks are not faults
Grain varies across a hide. Growth wrinkles, healed insect marks, range scars and shade differences between panels are characteristics of the material and are not grounds on their own for a defect claim. Every article is still covered by the ordinary 30-day return if you simply do not want it.
