Why it is like this
Two hides in one article means two tannages, and they age at different rates. The pale inner will move a long way; the pigmented outer will barely move at all. After two years the contrast is smaller than it is on day one.
The inner panels are the only place on this site where you will find an undyed surface against a pigmented one.
Natural marks are not faults
Grain varies across a hide. Growth wrinkles, healed insect marks, range scars and shade differences between panels are characteristics of the material and are not grounds on their own for a defect claim. Every article is still covered by the ordinary 30-day return if you simply do not want it.
