Why it is like this
Of everything we make, a luggage tag lives the hardest life: sunlight, rain, conveyor rubber, the inside of a hold. Undyed vegetable-tanned leather records all of it, which on a tag is the point.
It will go from pale straw to a dark red-brown over roughly eighteen months of regular travel, and unevenly, depending on which face was up.
This one changes colour
Vegetable-tanned and uncoated: this article will darken with handling, take on a sheen where it is rubbed most, and keep a record of what you put it through. That change is the material behaving normally, not a fault, and it is not covered by — or excluded from — any return on the grounds of appearance.

Grain varies across a hide. Growth wrinkles, healed insect marks, range scars and shade differences between panels are characteristics of the material and are not grounds on their own for a defect claim. Every article is still covered by the ordinary 30-day return if you simply do not want it.
