Why it is like this
A leather strap on a baggage system fails at the buckle hole, usually on the third or fourth trip. A 1.5 mm braided steel cable does not have a hole in it.
The trade is that it will not be adjusted once crimped, and the steel can mark a soft-sided bag it swings against.
Natural marks are not faults
Grain varies across a hide. Growth wrinkles, healed insect marks, range scars and shade differences between panels are characteristics of the material and are not grounds on their own for a defect claim. Every article is still covered by the ordinary 30-day return if you simply do not want it.
